Invest in the sun

Harvesting the suns' power is easy and affordable. Compare an investment in Solar to your stocks or bonds.... and the sun emerges as a preferential business asset. There are no wild market swings, as long as there is daylight, your investment is firm. Even in low light conditions, Solar systems are creating revenue. Sit back and let the sun put money in your pocket.

We design and install Solar Hot Water, Solar PV (electric), and Solar Air systems. Utilising over 40 years of experience, our firm blends Solar systems into various forms of architecture. Our specialised staff create installations that not only look good on your roof, they stand the test of time. Systems are engineered and professionally designed to ensure local codes are met, and that the highest levels of efficiency are attained.

Whether you are interested in Solar Hot water or Solar PV (electric), this comparison chart from NRCan illustrates the favourable conditions we find ourselves in compared to other internationally recognized solar centres. The fact is , in BC we have more solar potential than many solar power producing nations. The sun is free, and a large part of the world has taken advantage of this resource successfully for decades. Canadians must act with their roof tops and start embracing the suns' free energy for their everyday use.

Solar Hot Water systems (Solar Thermal)

The process is relatively simple, the sun's energy is harnessed through a closed loop system which circulates from your mechanical room to a Solar collector on your roof. The heat is transferred through a heat exchanger which is mounted on the side of a solar storage tank (normal hot water tank). Cold water enters the heat exchanger and then provides hot water to your main domestic tank. A typical household hot water consumption alone represents about 25% of its energy requirements. The entire system only require 23 watts to operate, so there are no substantial electrical needs. In fact a small PV module can easily offset the amount of electricity.

Our Solar hot water systems are manufactured by Enerworks. We are proud to be dealers / installers in several areas of BC for this progressive Canadian company. The technology is made in Canada, for Canadian climates. Not only is the EnerWorks flat plate collector the most efficient in North America, they are also the only company to have CSA approval.

Solar Hot water systems range from 1-Collector for a family of 2-3, up to large commercial installations for 50-200 room hotels.

Solar Hot Water packages:

Thermal collectors, container, exchanger, controller, monitor

A thermal panel absorbes sun's heat and transfers it to a dedicated hot water reservoir, feeding the regular hot water tank. A simple, efficient system.

Photovoltaics (Solar Electricity)

Suddwick-installed PV panel

Photovoltaic modules create energy on your roof or wall or a pole mount stand alone sytem. The electricity can be stored in batteries or sold to BC Hydro.

We offer a variety of PV modules, Inverters and racking systems. We are dealers for Conergy, one of the worlds' largest manufacturers and distributors of Solar PV products. From fixed roof locations, to stand alone pole applications, we can fit your needs.

BC Hydro offers BC residents an opportunity to create and sell power into the grid. Net metering is the act of selling electricity back to the provider.

A net metered Solar array literally makes you the owner of a micro power plant. Your array will continue supplying electricity into the future for a set price per kilowatt. Instead of taking from our hydro grid, you are able to give back, and prosper.

Although BC Hydro's buy back rate is low now (8,16 cents per kwh), the trend towards increased rates is unstoppable. In October of 2009, Ontario introduced FIT, an encouraging move by the Ontario government which offers some of the best buy back rates in North America (80 cents per kwh). It is only a matter of time until BC and the rest of Canada adopt a similar set of Feed in Tariffs.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) grid-tied packages:

PV panels, Sunny Boy inverter

In sufficient light, electricity from the PV panels is phased in the inverter and sent to the grid. Hydro buys back electricity received.
